Our Inspiration

"With only these two things, cows and grain, humanity can solve its eating problem. Human society needs only sufficient grain and sufficient cows                       to solve its economic problems. All other things but these two are artificial necessities created by man to kill his valuable life at the human level                              and  waste his time in things which are not needed.”

  Srimad Bhagavatam     3.2.29, Purport

“It is said by Cānakya Pandita “If you want worldly happiness, then these things are required that food grains are properly stocked." That is the                            Vedic civilization, that you work for three months, not very hard, simply till the ground and sow some food grain seed, and within three months it                            will grow, and you will have ample food grains, and you'll keep it in stock. And keep some cows. Dhanena dhanavān. They say that a rich man                                   means one who has got sufficient stock of food grains. That is the Vedic economic system. Gavaya dhanavān. Gavaya means by possessing                                   some    number of cows one is supposed to be rich. It is actually the fact. Everyone should possess some land for growing food grains and some                           cows to take milk. Then the whole economic problem is solved.””

“Our farm projects are an extremely important part of our movement. We must become self-sufficient by growing our own grains and producing                           our own milk, then there will be no question of poverty. So develop these farm communities as far as possible. They should be developed as an                             ideal society depending on natural products not industry.”

Srila Prabhupada Letter to Rupanuga     18,12, 1974

“If we can keep cows sufficiently and grow our necessary foodstuffs, then we shall show a new life to your countrymen—completely spiritual life in                       healthy atmosphere in divine consciousness. ”

Srila Prabhupada Letter to Satyabhama     30,03, 1969

“Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and religiousness – these are the natural qualities of the                                   enlightened intellectual community. Heroism, power, determination, resourcefulness, courage in battle, generosity and leadership are the                                         natural qualities of the enlightened leaders. Farming, cow protection and business are the natural work for the enlightened mercantile                                                      community.”
